Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Adorned In Roses - Heartfelt Creations

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for a little Heartfelt Creations inspiration!  I love making projects with lots of white and a burst of color!  Today I have a center-step card doing just that with a burst of purple and green!

Here's a bit of a side view so you can see the step part of the card base.

I used the beautiful dress image from the Adorned in Roses Set.  I colored the image with pencils and mineral spirits, fussy cut it and added a little Amethyst Microbeads here and there to the “lace” on the dress.  The flowers, leaves and sentiment were all colored with inks to match the coloring of the dress image.  I added Lavender & Lace Mini Prills to the flower centers.

Here's a close up of the flowers and a little bit of the dress with the microbeads.

The card base is embellished with the Raindrops On Roses Die using white card stock.  I also added a little lace trim, adhesive pearls, white netting and a silk bow.  You can see complete instructions at the bottom of the post and you can also click on the photos for a closer look.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the designers this week!  There's also a sneak peak of the next collection being released on May 14th, the Sweet Lullaby Collection!

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Accessories: Amethyst Microbeads (Martha Stewart), 1.5" White Netting, Bow-Easy (Really Reasonable Ribbon), lace trim, Scor-tape, pop dots, glue dots, White Silk Ribbon (May Arts), adhesive pearls, White Opal Liquid Pearls (Ranger), glue gun, Sparkle Shimmer Spritz (Imagine Crafts), mineral spirits, Prismacolor Pencils: Kelp Green, Marine Green, Lavender, Parma Violet, Violet, Dioxazine Purple Hue, Ginger Root, Sandbar Brown, Espresso, Sepia.

Instructions:

Make center step card with white card stock using tutorial found here adjusting measurement of base to 6" x 11" instead of 5 1/2" x 11". Die cut Raindrops on Rose Die with white card stock, cutting 2 of the decorative piece and 1 lattice piece for the center. Trim the 2 decorative pieces to 1" to fit on each side of the card. Glue all 3 pieces down as pictured using Art Institute Glue and Metal Tip. Use Scor-tape to add lace trim on bottom panel of card.

Stamp dress image on Solar White with Onyx Black and color with pencils. Fussy cut image and add Amethyst Microbeads on lacy parts of dress using glue and metal tip. Add to card as shown using pop dots.

On Solar White with Onyx Black, stamp flowers and pick an assortment of the smaller flowers. Color with the 3 PowderPuff Chalk Inks until you get the desired color to match the dress image. Shape with the mat and tool kit and add Lavender & Lace Prills to the centers using glue. Stamp leaves from Open Leaf Set on Solar White with Onyx Back. I used 2 of the 3-leaf and 1 of the 8-leaf images. Die cut these with matching die. Color leaves with Peeled Paint Ink and sponge. Shape leaves with mat and tool kit.

Cut a 4" piece of White Netting, tie piece string around the center to create a fake bow. Make vertical cuts on ends so it feathers out. Add as pictured with glue dots. Arrange leaves (I cut the 8-leaf image into 2 pieces) and flowers (saving 1 small flower for bow) on card as pictured and adhere using glue gun. Stamp sentiment on Solar White with Onyx Black, die cut with Ovals Die and ink edges with 3 PowderPuffs Inks in the same manner as the flowers. Glue to card as shown. Make 7 loop bow with Silk Ribbon and Bow-Easy. Add to card with glue dots and add extra flower to center with glue gun. Add adhesive pearls. Dot with White Opal Liquid Pearls as desired. Spray with Shimmer Spritz for extra sparkle.

Especially For You Pocket Tag - Heartfelt Creations

Happy Thursday!

I'm back again as promised with another project for Heartfelt Creations!  This time I have a pocket tag with a more feminine design on in!

Here's a picture of the tag outside the pocket tag.

I created the tag with the pocket by using the Luggage & Tags Die and a folded piece of the designer paper.  The map image on the blue designer paper is the same image I used yesterday for the masculine tag.  I love this map image for a background and that it works for both feminine and masculine projects.

The small tag is one of the stamp images die cut with one of the smaller tag dies.  There are lots of tag designs you can make with this collection!

The coloring on the flowers and leaves was done using chalk inks and make up applicators.  I like how it came out with the heat embossed images using the Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel.  I love coloring with pencils and mineral spirits, but I really liked how quick and easy this was for a change of look.

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Masculine Tag - Heartfelt Creations

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for some Heartfelt Creations Inspiration!  Today I have a masculine tag for you!

Boy do I have a hard time making masculine projects!  I have to restrain myself from adding bows and flowers and it always looks too plain.  This one didn't come out too bad.  I do love the Clear Bark embossing powder on the light blue designer paper along with the dark brown card stock and ribbon.

Here's a little close up of the elements for you.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to check out all the beautiful creations by the designers this week!  You can also see a new video from Emma Lou with a fun technique to show you.

Baby Buggy - CottageCutz

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Today I have a cute baby card for you using the Baby Buggy, Best Wishes, and Fancy Floral Lace Border CottageCutz Dies from The Scraping Cottage.

To make my card, I started with a square 4 1/4" white card base and added a piece of Fancy Floral Lace Border cut with light green paper (Chick-a-doo from S.E.I) to the bottom.  I cut a light green mat (3 1/2" x 4 3/8") and an embossed white mat slightly smaller and glued them together.  I folded Baby Pink Seam Binding in half, wrapped it around the bottom of the mats and glued it in place.  I then added the mats to the card with pop dots just above the border.

The Best Wishes Die was cut with the light green paper and glued to the mat as pictured.  The Baby Buggy Die was cut with white, light green, and a flowered designer paper from Nana's Nursery - Baby Gift Paper from DCWV.  I shaded the white pieces of the buggy body with Pixie Dust VersaMagic Ink and  glued all the pieces together as shown using a mixture of the light green and flowered papers.  The buggy was added to the card with pop dots.  I added a larger flower to the buggy with Diamond Stickles in the center.  I made a triple loop bow and added a smaller flower with White Opal Liquid Pearls added to the center.

These are the dies I used.

Card Recipe:

Paper: White (Recollections), Chick-a-doo (S.E.I.), Nana's Nursery - Baby Girl (DCWV)
Ink: Pixie Dust (VersaMagic)
Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (SU), Bow-Easy Tool, Baby Pink Seam Binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon), Diamond Stickles, White Opal Liquid Pearls (Ranger).

Embrace Life - Heartfelt Creations

Happy Wednesday everyone!

It's time for some Heartfelt Creations inspiration!  Today I have a card that could be used for a man or  a woman.  I think it especially makes a nice masculine card which I find hard to do!

I used one of the card fronts (the one with the balloon image) from the designer papers.  These really make card making easier!  I matted it with Mist card stock and popped it on a dark brown card base.  I added one of the tickets form the designer paper, a balloon image I colored with pencils and mineral spirits, and a sentiment and medallion from the Celebrate the Journey Sentiments Set using tan card stock.  (You can see complete instructions at the bottom of my post.)

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the designers this week!  Also, see who the blog comment winner is for the new collection!

I'm submitting this to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #128 - Anything Goes.

Coloring Samples Binder

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day!  The weather here in North Carolina is finally getting nice out!  I had been really spoiled living in Southern California the past 10 years with their gorgeous weather and I sure do miss it!  Of course, we moved here to NC 6 months ago and have had the worse winter in ages!  Not an ideal way to start out here, but it's finally spring now!

Today I thought I would share with you a binder I put together to keep track of pencil coloring samples I use.  I really love to color with my pencils and having just the “right” colors for a project is important to me.  I started this binder a few months ago so I would have these combinations of colors at my finger tips instead of having to search for them in previous projects or reinvent them again.

I use the small binders, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", with the sheet protectors the same as my samples binder you may have seen me use here.  I cut card stock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and stamped flowers on each page (I did 3 on each).   The flower I have used here is from Heartfelt Creation's Posy Patch Flowers Set, but basically I just picked a flower that had good size petals that I could work with.

Here's a view of some of the purple color combinations I have put together in my binder.  (You can click on the photo to see it better.)

What I do is number the flower petals that correspond with a specific color that I list out.  Starting with 1, I add the color and blend on each petal, then 2 added to petal 2 and up and blended, then 3 added to 3 and up and blended, etc.  So I end up with a sample of different color shades on each petal that I can match up to and use.

Here's a close up of one of the combinations I did so you can see it better and in case I'm not making sense.

So on the sample above, petal 1 has only Rosy Beige, petal 2 has Rosy Beige, then Clay Rose, petal 3 has Rosy Beige, then Clay Rose, then Black Cherry, petal 4 has all four colors.

You can see a little note I added on this combination that I used the steps 1-3 color combination for the Raindrops on Roses samples I made.  Here's a card I made with this color combination.  (I do believe I also added a little black on a couple of spots on this one too and burnished with Black Cherry.)

Some of the combinations in my color samples have dates written on them which is the date of the project I did with that color combination.  Most of the samples are done by using minerals spirits to blend the colors.  Sometimes I will burnish the colors, especially when I'm adding black, and I'll usually note that on the sample.  I often use a tiny amount of black at the last step of coloring to intensify the shading a bit in some places.  Usually, I will burnish the black with the color I used before it so that it retains the color and doesn't just turn to black.

I'm by no means an expert on coloring, but I thought I would share some of what I do when I color and what has helped me to be more organized with color combinations I have used.  I've found it really helpful when I'm trying to match colors to designer papers I'm working with.  Hope someone else will find this useful too!

Thank for stopping by to visit!

Blessings!

Kathy

Heartfelt Creations - Floral With Cream

(This is my second post for today, if you are looking for my CottageCutz post, please see post below this.)

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for some Heartfelt Creations inspiration!  This week I'm using the Floral Clocks PreCut Set!

This is such a pretty image!  I colored it with pencils and mineral spirits using the same colors from the designer papers.  I added Champagne Microbeads to the flower centers and the flowered button center that's on the bow.  (You can find full instructions at the bottom of this post.)

Here's a closeup of the image.

The beautiful medallion behind the image is cut with peach colored designer paper from the Once Upon a Time Paper Collection using the Raindrops on Roses Die.  I love the way it looks against the cream embossed background and card base.

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see all the beautiful creations this week!  Emma Lou also has a sneak peak of the new collection being released next week!

CottageCutz - Floral Thank You

Happy Wednesday!

Today I have a decorated gift bag with a matching mini notecard and envelope to show you using lots of beautiful CottageCutz Dies!  Here's the complete set!

I found these little White Paper Sacks (1 lb. - 3.5"x 2" x 6.75") at Michaels that I thought would be cute decorated for a gift!  All I did was add the Springtime Floral Die cut in white and colored with chalk inks, a piece of Fancy Floral Lace Border cut in white and a bow with a pearl.  Here's a close up of the die cut on the bag.

I made a little notecard with white card stock that measures 2 3/8" square so it would fit in the Elegant Envelope.  I decorated the notecard with the Spring Label Die cut with white card stock and colored the same way as the bag.  I then added the Thank You Die cut with white card stock to the label.  Here's a close up of the notecard.

For the envelope, I cut the Elegant Envelope Die with white card stock and decorated it with the Flower w/Cutouts (flower) and Plumeria & Leaves (leaves) all colored with chalk inks.  I added some pearls and a little Diamond Stickles around the pearl in the flower center.  On the back flap of the envelope, I add a small piece cut from the Springtime Floral Die that I colored to match the other pieces.  Here's a little close up for you!

I LOVE this little envelope!  It's perfect for little notecards to go with gifts!

These are the dies I used on my project.
