Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Purple Cross with Great Peace

Hi there!

I made this easel card using a few different techniques I wanted to try out.

This is the card closed up.

The card itself is made using the Labels Twenty Dies to create the card base.  Angie Crockett did a tutorial on ODBD's Blog in January showing how to make shaped cards from Spellbinder's Dies.  You can find her tutorial here.

I also added a second purple Labels Twenty Die card to the back so that purple would show on the bottom and top of the card and enabled me to turn it into an easel card.  I just used the basic easel card instructions you can find on Split Coast Stampers' Resource Section here.

The mat on the front of the card, was done using the Faux Silk Technique where you use patterned tissue paper to create it.   I bought this tissure paper at a $1 store, and had adhesive paper sheets I bought from Papertrey Ink that worked perfectly for this.  Angie also did a tutorial on ODBD's Blog for this technique a few weeks ago that you can find here.  It's a fun and easy to do.

The cross is made using the Crosses Two Dies from Spellbinders that I recently bought. I loved the look of them matted together using 4 of the dies, and wanted to use them on a card.

Here's a close-up of the cross and the tissure paper mat.

The Bible Verse I used is from the Scripture Collection 8 Stamp Set from ODBD.  This particular Verse, Psalm 119:165, is the one I chose to contribute to the collection this year...so exciting Kelley at ODBD allowed us to do this!!!

I'm submitting this to the latest Word Art Wednesday Challenge #24 that you can find here.

For ingredients used:

Stamp: Scripture Collection 8 (ODBD)
Paper: Lavender Lace (SU), Solar White (Neenah), adhesive paper (Papertry Ink)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Tissue paper ($1 store), Crosses Two, Moroccan Accents, Labels Twenty (Spellbinders Dies), adhesive pearls (Want-2-Scrap), stylus, flower (Recollections), lace (Really Reasonable Ribbon)

That's is for today!

Blessings!

Kathy

  4. Beautiful card! Gorgeous details. Great verse to share in Philippians, I have it on my mirror to read daily. Nothing like the peace of God that comes from the God of peace! He gave me that verse when my younger brother passed away years ago and it's been close to my heart ever since. God bless!
