Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Heartfelt Creations Inspiration Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

Time for a new creation using HC's beautiful stamps and dies!

This week I made a wall hanging for my project.  I think this would make a nice gift for someone, actually I want to make one for myself...something I never seem to do!  I saw these chipboard signs at Target in the $1 bin and knew they would be great for altering.  I just covered them with paper, embellished it, and added ribbon to hang it.

Here's the way it looks with the ribbon. Sorry, the picture isn't the best...

Please visit the HC Blog to see all the other gorgeous creations from the Design Team!  What a talented group of ladies!

I'm submitting this to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #34.
Blessings!

Kathy

ODBDSLC113 - Use 3+ Stamps

Happy Saturday!

It's time for a new Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs!

This week's challenge:
This week we have a real challenge for you!! Let's see you use three or more stamps on your creation. They can be images, backgrounds or sentiments but you must use three or more stamps.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, June 29th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them. As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award . In order to qualify for this award or join the challenge, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Friday, June 29th at 8 a.m. EST. For my take on the challenge this week...

I used the Eternity Set for the quote and frame, and the Dreams Set for the bird.  The quote and frame are heat emboss and cut with the matching Elegant Ovals (ODBD's Dies by Spellbinders).  This is a pretty set that you can do lots with.  The bird is fussy cut and added with pop dots.

The paper the quote is on is designer paper from the Mariposa Stack which matches perfect with the Blush Blossom Cardstock.  I think this is one of the first times I've used this cardstock color and I've had it for years!

For all ingredients used:

Stamps: Dreams, Eternity (ODBD)
Paper: Mariposa Stack (DCWV), Black, Blush Blossom (SU)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), VersaMark
Accessories: Fanciful Flourish (Cheery Lynn), Foliage Die (Spellbinders), Elegant Ovals Dies (ODBD Custom - Spellbinders), ribbon (Michaels), Trim (Jo-Anns), Classic Lace Flower (Prima), Black & Gold Embossing Powder, adhesive pearls (Recollections)

Heartfelt Creations Inspiration Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

That means it's time for a little inspiration  from Heartfelt Creations.

Before we get to my creation this week, I just wanted to express my sadness over the loss last week of one of our Design Teammates, Lisa Lynne Wright.  I haven't been on the team long enough to get to know Lisa, but I could already see her enthusiasm and encouragement in her comments to me and others.  I pray for her Husband Joe and her family through this difficult time.  It makes me realize how quickly one of our loved ones can be taken from us, and how I need to appreciate those loved ones in my life every day.

For my creation this week, I made a card using this beautiful flower swirl from the new Twining Roses Set from the Garden Romance Collection.  What a beauty to color and actually easy to fussy cut even though I didn't need to.  I put lots of white on this one with touches of lavender.  I really love how this one came out and I hope you do too.

Please visit the Heartfelt Creations Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the Designers this week.

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Distressing or Tearing - Elphine House Australia

Hi there!

It's time for a new challenge at Elphine House Australia!  This time the challenge is to use distressing or paper tearing on your card or project.  The only paper tearing I usually do is by accident, and the only distressing is on how I'm going to get done on time LOL!!!  I recently bought a new distressing tool which made it much easier.  Here's what I came up with!

Here's the front of the card:

And, here's the inside:

This is another new Elisabeth Bell stamp from EHA called Fairy Faye Flying High.  Isn't she cute!  I colored her with my Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits trying to match these pretty Fairy Belle papers from Prima.  These papers are gorgeous!  I wanted to put the wings on the front, but I didn't like the way it looked so I put them on the inside.  When you turn the wings upside down, it kind of looks like a tulip...I may use that sometime!

Here are all the ingredients I used:

Stamps: Fairy Faye Flying High (EHA), Short & Sweet (SU)
Paper: Fairy Belle (Prima),  Solar White (Neenah), white (Georgia Pacific), Baja Breeze (SU), plum/rose cardstock (DCWV Cardstock Stack)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Aegean Blue (VersaMagic)
Accessories: Labels 8, Wings of Hope Dies (Spellbinders), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box),
Word Window, Modern Label Punches (SU),Flower Burst 3/4" (Fiskers), distressing tool, Baja Breeze Seam Binding (RAK/SU), flower (Prima), Prismacolor Pencils, mineral spirits, adhesive pearls (Want-2-Scrap), Gold & Diamond Stickles, Aleene's Paper Glaze, microbeads (Martha Stewart)

To join in the challenge, you can use any Elisabeth Bell stamp or digi image.  The winner will be chosen randomly and will recieve 2 Elphine House Australia Stamps of their choice!  That's very generous!  Here's a link to their Blog to check it out: Elphine House Australia Blog

I'm also submitting this to the Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #49 to use flowers and ribbons which you can find here

Thanks for visiting today!

Blessings!

Happy Saturday!!!

Since June is known as the wedding month...This week the team is challenging to make a creation using something old, something new, something borrowed or gifted, and something blue.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, June 15th at 8 a.m.

Linky by Friday, June 15th at 8 a.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC111. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.
Here's my take on the challenge this week:

Old: black cardstock scraps; New: stamp set; Gifted: ribbon; Blue: ribbon, panel paper

I used the new Bicycle Stamp Set again for this one, this time using the quote from Abraham Lincoln.  I like how the quote is tall and narrow and thought this was a good sketch for it.  I used some new designer papers for this, Prima's Nature Garden and My Mind's Eye's Lost & Found.  The crochet flower is also from Prima and the gorgeous seam binding is from a RAK from my sweet friend Jill!
For all ingredients used:
Paper: Black (SU), Nature Garden (Prima), Lost & Found (MME)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Baja Breeze Seam Binding (RAK/SU), adhesive pearls, (Want-2-Scrap), Fanciful Flourish (Cheery Lynn)
For more inspiration, visit the other DT ladies and their beautiful creations!

Hope to see you join in the challenge this week.

Heartfelt Creations Wednesday Inspiration

It's time for me to show you more inspiration using some new stamps from Heartfelt Creations and also an older set too this time!

On this first card, "Tattered Thank You Swirl", I used two of the new sets Tattered Blossoms Swirls and Heartfelt Expressions for the sentiment.  The flowers are colored with Prismacolor Pencils.  I love this Swirls set because you can do lots of different designs with it.

June 1st ODBD Release Blog HOP

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs June Release Blog Hop!  If you got here from Chris' Awesome Blog, you are in the right place.  If not, you might want to start at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog and start from the beginning.  If you get lost along the way, simply return there where the entire Hop is listed with the links!

All the sticks in the bread basket have been having soooo much fun with all the fantastic new sets!!! If you have not had a chance to see the release, you can see it HERE.

Now, here are the Hop Details:

  • The Hop will run 8am EST June 1 until 8pm EST June 2. The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on June 3.
  • The prizes this month will be done a little differently! There will be three prizes of $20.00 Gift Certificates to the ODBD store for stamps, hidden on three different blogs along the hop. No one will know where they are! The winners will be randomly chosen from the COMMENTERS on these three blogs!
  • The GRAND PRIZE of the entire Bread Basket Bundle will be drawn from the comments left on the ODBD Blog post, from all who tell us they completed the hop and which set is their most favorite!

Here is what you have to do to be qualified to win one of these prizes:

  • Hop to each designer’s blog and leave a comment
  • Return to the Our Daily Bread designs blog and leave a comment telling us that you completed the hop, making note if there were any you could not comment on.

For my card I used the new set "Bicyle".  I love this set!  The bicycle image totally reminds me of being on Cape Cod, especially being on the Islands of Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket.  You see bicycles like this everywhere, where it's easier to get around than a car.  There's usually a basket like this on the front too!  The quote above the image is a separate stamp that's included in the set.  I love the way it fits with the image.  There's also 2 other awesome quotes in the set you can use, one from John F. Kennedy, the other from Abraham Lincoln..

Here's a picture of the whole set:

I colored my image (my favorite thing to do) with Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits.  I cut it out with Labels 8 Nestabilities and added flowers and ribbon and twine.

Now you need to Hop over to the super talented Lisa's Blog!

For all ingredients used:

Stamp: Bicycle (ODBD)
Paper: The Guy Stack (DCWV), Solar White (Neenah), Mocha Devine (Bazzills)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Labels 8 Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder (SU), Adhesive Pearls (Want-2-Scrap), Flowers (Recollections), Moss Seam Binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon), Prismacolor Pencils, mineral spirits, Baker's Twine (Martha Stewart)
