Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

I decide to use a deep blue and baby blue combination.  The blues are actually much darker than they look here, the paper is Night of Navy from Stampin Up.  This week I received a new Spellbinders' Die "Floral Ovals" and the "Elegance" M-Bossibilites Embossing Folder which I used here.  Both of the are GORGEOUS!!!  I fell in love with this Floral Oval the minute I saw it, and I know I'll be using it a lot!

The Scripture Verse Psalm 37:4, is from Our Daily Bread Designs' Scripture Series 2 Set.  This is a wonderful Verse and beautifully designed with the fonts.

For the ingredients I used:

The bread sticks are so excited to be celebrating this special milestone in the life of ODBD! It is such a blessing to work for a company that brings glory to God in every stamp set created, and offers us the tools we need to do the same with every card we create! If you are a long term follower of ODBD, then you know that each year, the Design Team submits a favorite Scripture for the special anniversary sets, and those suggestions have been the sum total of all the "Scripture Collection" stamp sets in the store. This year, the special sets include our favorite Scriptures, but also quotes and sentiments that we feel would be great on cards or projects. I think you will find some of the most encouraging and uplifting words available in stamps in these special anniversary sets!

So now, here are the Details of the Anniversary Hop:

  • The Hop will run 8am EDT Mar. 17 until 8pm EDT Mar 18.

  • Along with your statement that you completed the hop, leave some Anniversary wishes for Kelley and the gang at ODBD!

Now... for the brief details of my card:

God's Great Peace...

My Bible verse for the Anniversary Release, is:

"Great Peace have they who Love Your law, and nothing can make them stumble." Psalm 119:165.

This beautiful verse, one of my favorites, is in the new Scripture Collection #8 Set from ODBD.  I love this verse.  I love that it's not just "Peace" we will have, it's "Great Peace"!  I love that  it's not somethings, it's "N-O-T-H-I-N-G" can make us stumble"!  How wonderful is that to know!  I did notice though, it's not that we "like" His Law", it's that we "Love" His Law!

For ingredients I used:

Paper: Natural White (Neenah), Capers (Bazzills), 'coral' (cardstock stack - DCWV)
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Fleur de Lis punch (EKSuccess), beads (Darice), pin (RAK), adhesive pearls (Recollections), Prawn R24 Copic Sketch Marker (to color the pearls), Branch with Leaves Die (Sizzix) (inside the card), flowers (Prima & RAK), Labels 20 Die (Spellbinders), Petal Pink Liquid Pearls (Ranger), piercer, Paper Lace II Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), stylus, seam binding & pleated ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon), Fanciful Flourish Die (Cheery Lynn Designs), Flourishes #9 Die (Sizzix).

Here is my sample for the challenge this week!

I used the Flower Border Stamp (ODBD) for the frame and fussy cut a couple of pieces for the inside of the frame and popped them a little with pop dots.  The Verse, Psalm 43:3, is from a brand new March release set from Our Daily Bread Designs called "The Light of Life".   Beautiful fonts on this, and I like how 2 different ones are used together.   I wanted to do a "cream on cream" card with 1 dramatic color.   I love how the flowers stand out with the Island Indigo SU paper behind the cream and the seam binding and flower on top.

Stamps: Flower Border, and The Light of Life (Our Daily Bread Designs)

Corner Bookmark - Flourishes FTTC157

Happy Sunday!

I decided to join in on the latest challenge at Flourishes - FTTC157 - make a corner bookmark.  I've seen this, but hadn't tried it out yet.  I'm glad I did, very easy to make and would make a nice gift!

I would LIKE to make a bunch of these for the ladies at my Bible study, but there are a LOT of ladies!  We'll have to see how that goes!

The blue paper is actually darker and more of a navy than the royal blue as it looks here.  It looks a lot nicer in real life!

I couldn't decide which picture to show you, so I'm showing you all 3!

I used the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers in the Resource section done by Beate Johns, you can find it here

I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils and tried something a little different.  I did a base of white pencil on the flower before adding the blue.  I'm not sure I like it, it changes the color too much from what I wanted.    I checked out pictures of real pansies online and found gorgeous one that was mostly white with dark blue highlights on the base and tip of the petals.  This definitely isn't how it came out, but I'll try it again in the future.  I also noticed in the real pictures that the "fifth" petal underneath was usually a solid darker color, which I tried to do here.  I'm just a little detailed, LOL!

The ingredients used:

Stamps: A Year in Flowers 1 (Flourishes)
Paper: White (PTI), Typhon (Bazzills), Watercolor Bouquet (K&Co).
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine)
Accessories: Fleur de Lis Squares, Classic Petal Edgeabilities (Spellbinders), ribbon (Micheals), adhesive pearls (Michaels & Want2Scrap), Prismacolor pencils, mineral spirits.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Blessings!

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, March 3rd at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. If you are not using ODBD stamps, please do not enter more than once. Additional entries without using ODBD stamps will not be commented on or will they qualify for prizes.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Friday, March 3rd at 8 a.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC98. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Here is my take on the challenge this week, an easel card!

Here's another view so you can see the inside when it's opened.

A close up of the image.

 The inside close up.

I haven't done one of these in a long time, it's almost like making 2 cards the way I decorated the inside! These are fun to do though and they really come out special.

This beautiful image of the watering can and flowers, is from the Happy Birthday Set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits. (Wow, how I LOVE to color!)  This is the first time I've used set,  I had it in my head that I wanted to do a card with purples and yellow...nice and spring-like and I thought this set would be perfect!  The white lace and trim on the inside are from my RAK package I received from Sabrina :-D.  I LOVE yellow and white together!

For the ingredients:

Stamps: Happy Birthday (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Watercolor Bouquet (K&Co), Plum Pudding (PTI), Solor White (Neenah)
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine)
Accessories: Labels 20, Fleur de Lis Squares (Spellbinders), Fanciful Flourish (Cheery Lynn Designs), Medium Branch Punch (Marth Stewart), Branch with Leaves (Sizzix), flower (Recollections), lace & trim (my RAK), ribbon (scrapbook store), adhesive pearls & swirls (Michaels), white gel pen, Prismacolor Pencils

Now for more inspiration for the challenge, please visit my Design Team Sistahs and see their gorgeous creations!

*****

I'm submitting this to the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge #16 "Frame-It", to use a frame somewhere on your design.

*****
I'm also entering this in the latest Stampin' Sister's in Christ Challenge #127.  This week the challenge is to use flowers on your card/project.  The Bible Verse is 2 Cor. 2:16b.

Scripture:
2 Cor 2:16b . . ."to the other the fragrance of life."
In reading this verse and the words from Peggysue on the challenge post, it reminds me of all God has blessed me with.  I hope my blog in some way reflects God's Love and shows others the wonderful Peace and Joy He can bring to them no matter what their circumstances are.  I have had many trials, and God has ALWAYS been faithful to me and has brought me through them becoming stronger and more able to help others.
I love the LORD!

Blessing!

Spellbinders Design Team - Round 2 Submission

Hi there,

Here is my Round 2 Submission for the Spellbinders Design Team Contest that I did the beginning of January.  This time I made a center-step card.

I made this using the center-step card instructions on Split Coast Stampers which you can find here.  The flower image is from the Plant a Little Love Set from JustRite.  I colored it with my Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits and accented it with Copper Microbeads from Martha Stewart.  The 2 die cuts on the front, as well as the one inside, are from Spellbinders' Fleur de Lis Squares.  The border on the inside is from their Parisian Accents Shapeabilities.

For all the ingredients:

Stamps: Plant a Little Love (JustRite)
Paper: Kraft (Papertry Ink), Mariposa Mat Stack (DCWV), gold (DCWV - Neutrals), Parisian Breeze DSP, Baja Breeze (SU), Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine)
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils - Bronze, Muted Turquoise, Light Umber, Tombow Marker - True Blue, mineral spirits, dazzling diamonds, adhesive pearls, monarch butterfly punch (MS), 2-step bird punch, beautiful wings embosslits (SU), ribbon, rhinestone, flower (Michaels), copper microbeads (Martha Stewart), Paper Lace II embossing folder (Cuttlebug), Fleur de Lis Squares, Parisian Accents Shapeabilities (Spellbinders).

That's it for the 2nd Round, hope this gives you a little inspiration!

Blessings!

Kathy

Spellbinders Design Team Contest - Round 1

Hi there,

Just wanted to let you know that I wasn't selected for the Spellbinders Design Team.  I am happy to have made it to the third round though.  Thought I would show you my entries for the contest so you can see what I made and maybe give you some ideas.

Today I'll show you my first round entry submitted back in December.   I made a Christmas ornament using the Lacy Squares Dies from Spellbinders.  I had just received them in the mail, all excited to have something new, and came up with this ornament within a couple of hours...VERY unusual for me.  God was definitely with me on this one!  This is the picture I submitted to Spellbinders, not the best, but we could only submit one!

Here's the back, all finished off nicely.

Here's a closeup of the front.

This was really simple to make, once I figured out what I wanted to do.  I just glued 2 of the larger die cuts together with the ribbon running through so it's hidden, then 1 diecut each of the next 3 smaller sizes.  I then just matted them with white and designer papers from the Glad Tidings Paper from K&Co, I LOVE these papers.  The 2 stickers with "Joy" and "Jolly" are Word Adhesive Chipboard pieces also from Glad Tidings.  The 2 little corner edge pieces above and below "Jolly" are the leftovers from the Fleur de lis Edge Punch from EKS with Diamond Stickles on them.  The white snowflake is just a button that I threaded the ribbon through in the bottom circle of the larger die.

Here are the full list of ingredients:

Stamps: None
Paper: Glad Tidings (K&Co), Ruby Slipper (Bazzills), Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: None
Accessories: Lacy Squares (Spellbinders), Glad Tidings Word Adhesive Chipboard (K&Co), adhesive pearls, Fleur de lis Edge Punch (EKS), Diamond Stickles, snowflake button, ribbons (Michaels).

I think this makes a nice Christmas Gift and you can do lots with this one design.  I hope this gives you a little inspiration for gifts to make!

Blessings!

Timeless Roses - FTTC156 & Cheery-Lynn Designs Challenge #15

Good morning again!

I have another card to show you this morning that I worked on this week.  This rose stamp is from Flourishes' "A Year in Flowers 2" Set.  I bought the entire set of stamps to make calendars for next year.  I love to color flowers, and these make beautiful calendars or can be used alone like this on a card or project.

I'm entering this in the Flourish's Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week to incorporate red on your card.  You can find the challenge here on their website.

I'm also entering this in the Cheery-Lynn Designs Challenge this week called "Pretty in Pink" to use pink on you card.  You are required to use at least one of their dies, I used the Fanciful Flourish...only one I have, so far!  You can find their challenge here on their website.

Among the ingredients I used on this card, the pin with the pearls, rhinestones, and charm are from a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) I received from a sweet friend, Sabrina Jackson!!!  Sabrina is on the Our Daily Bread Designs' Design Team.  She was going to send me a couple of pins and beads to show me how she does hers...they are gorgeous...I ended up with a whole box of goodies!!!  I'm going to show you all the things she sent me in a separate post, as soon as I can get a pretty picture of them all together!

Here is the inside of the card:

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but I used the Scripture Collection 2 Set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I embossed it with Pearl Embossing Powder and VersaMark.  This is actually a leftover from the card I made last month for the Love Recipe Challenge - ODBDSLC94.  I pretty much save all my leftovers from projects (they are organized in my recipe card boxes - you can see that in an older post on organization here), and use them when I can.  I sponged around the image with old olive ink.  It's actually very pretty with the designer paper.  The lace is also from my wonderful RAK from Sabrina.  So very pretty!!!

For all the ingredients I used:

Stamps: A Year in Flowers 2 (Flourishes), Scripture Collection 2 (ODBD)
Paper: Rose Red (SU), Solar White (Neenah), Watercolor Bouquet (K&Co), Preppy Princess Stack (DCWV).
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine), Old Olive (SU), Versamark
Accessories: Prismacolor pencils - Pale Sage, Old Olive, Crimson Red, Pink Rose, Kelp Green, Le Plume marker English Red, mineral spirits, Fanciful Flourish die (Cheery Lynn Designs), Fleur de Lis Squares, Labels 18 (Spellbinders), pearl cotton thread, sewing needle, adhesive pearls & flowers(Recollections), lace (Really Reasonable Ribbon & Sabrina's RAK), netting (Jo-Ann's), charm/pin/beads (Sabrina's RAK), sponge.

That's it for now!  Thank you for looking and hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Blessings!

Kathy

Reflecting on You

This is a card I did to try out my new Fleur De Lis die-cut from Spellbinders.  I love the contrast of yellow and black together and decided to use the die as a frame around the image.  This is one of my favorite stamps called "Reflective" by Sugar Nellie.
