Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Here is my card for the challenge this week:

(Click on photo for a closer look)

I made a slider style card using scripture from the On Eagles' Wings Set.

For the sentiment inside, I used the Flourished Verses Set.

Here's another photo of the card laying flat.

I had a little trouble with inspiration this week, so I made a trip to my local scrapbook store and found these pretty Authentique Papers called Cherish.  I love these papers with the roses and pinks!  I get a lot of my inspiration from designer papers and even though I have TONS already, LOL, I had to get more!  I did all the stamping directly on the solid designer papers.  Also, if you look closely, there is a faint eagle image with the verse on front.

Card recipe:

Stamps: On Eagles' Wings, Flourished Verses (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Natural White (Neenah), Cherish (Authentique), burgandy (DCWV), Always Artichoke
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Victoria Velvet Distress Ink
Accessories: Alway Artichoke Seam Binding (RAK from Jill :-), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box), Timeless Rectangles Dies (Spellbinders), button, Bow-Easy, jute, charm, brad

For more inspiration, please visit my design teammates and our Guest Designer, Gloria Stengel, to see their gorgeous creations this week.  You can also see all the creations together on the ODBD Blog.

I'm also submitting this to the following challenges:

Word Art Wednesday Guest Designer

Hi there!

As I announced on Wednesday,  I am a Guest Designer this month for Word Art Wednesday!  I almost always play in their challenges, and I'm very honored to be asked by Karen to join them!

For this week's challenge, the sponsors are Lisa's Altered Art and Eureka Stamps.  The Scripture/Word Art for this week is Psalm 91:11.

You may use this for your creation this week, but are not required to.  Anything goes as long as it is framily-friendly and uses an encouraging, uplifting sentiment.

Here is my card for the challenge this week:

(Click on the photo for a better view)

I printed the Scripture on white cardstock and cut it using Labels 20 Dies.  The card base is Baja Breeze.  I cut a white mat using Romantic Rectangles and added a piece of Parisian Breeze Designer Paper (one of my favorite dp that I save for special occasions).  I added the Scripture die cut with pop dots and embellished it with flowers, butterflies, pearls and a bow.  The largest flower was made with Heartfelt Creations' Vintage Floret Dies.

Card Recipe:

Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Parisian Breeze (Stampin' Up)
Ink: Printer ink, Aegean Blue (VersaMagic)
Accessories: Flower punch (EKSuccess), Embosslits Beautiful Wings (SU), Vintage Floret Die (Heartfelt Creations), Labels 20, Romantic Rectangles (Spellbinders), Bow-Easy, White Seam Binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon), adhesive pearls, White Opal Liquid Pearls (Ranger), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box), McGill Tool Kit & Mat

Thank you for stopping by today!  Hope to see you join in the WAW challenge this week!

Blessings!

Kathy

Here is my take on the challenge this week...

Love One Another

I decided to make another ivory on ivory card for the color challenge (CC406) at Split Coast Stampers, this time a wedding slider card.  I love the Elegant Scrollwork Die and have been playing with putting a few together like a bouquet.  I finally came up with this design for it.

My "old" on this is the designer paper on the inside, it's actually an old patterned card piece that I've had for years!  The "new" is this "Love One Another" Stamp Set.  I love this set!  It's the same one I used on the wall hanging last week for my "Time With Kathy" post.  Here's a picture of the set again.

Card recipe:

Stamp: Love One Another (ODBD)
Paper: Natural White (Neenah), designer paper (stash)
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink (Ranger)
Accessories: Very Vanilla Seam Binding (RAK from Jill), roses (RAK from Sabrina), trim, adhesive pearls (Recollections), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box), Framed Tulips Embossing Folder, Labels 23 (Spellbinders)

For more inspiration, please visit my design team sisters!

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Here is my card for the challenge this week!  It's hard to photo the gold embossing and glitter paper and ribbon, but I did my best.  I once again used the Snowflake Background and Snowy Blessings Stamp Sets, so beautiful!  Here's a picture of the stamp sets in case you missed them last week.

Now for my take on the challenge this week...

I love this little chickadee from the You Will Find Refuge Stamp Set!  It's so cute and I love having the matching die for it so I can place it wherever I want.  Here's a picture of the actual set that shows the Verse I used:

I stamped the chickadee on yellow designer paper (Weekend Market) and colored it a little with pencils.  These papes are so pretty and rich that I really didn't need to do much to make this card.

    Card Recipe:

Stamps: You Will Find Refuge (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Blue (Recollections), Weekend Market (Bo Bunny)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Amaretto (Powder Puffs)
Accessories: Bow-Easy, Golden Maple Silk Ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon), Chickadee Die (Our Daily Bread Designs), spacer bead, adhesive pearls (Michaels), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box), mineral spirits, Prismacolor Pencils: Black, Indigo Blue, Chocolate, Goldenrod, Burnt Ochre

ODBDSLC121 *2nd Week* You Leave Me in Stitches

    Hi there!

I hope everyone in the USA has had the opportunity to enjoy the holiday weekend. For many it is the last hurrah before school begins, for others school already begun. I have one of each myself!
Since many go away for Labor Day weekend in the USA, we extended the "You Keep Me in Stitches" challenge to give our viewers ample time to play along. The linky is the same as last week's so you can add your creation on either post. Today the team would like to share more samples for this challenge.

    This week's challenge:
    "You leave me in stitches"

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, September 2nd at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them. As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award . In order to qualify for this award or join the challenge, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, September 9th at 8 p.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC121. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Here is my second take on the "stitches" challenge.

Once again, I did faux stitching!  This one came out a little better than last's weeks faux stitching.  I started this card with Proverb 9:11 verse in a beautiful font and the Fairy Belle designer paper.   I wouldn't normally put this two colors together, but the designer paper ties it all in nicely.

    For all ingredients used:

Paper: Fairy Belle (Prima), Solar White (Neenah), Baja Breeze (SU), plum (DCWV Stack)
    Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: White gel pen, piercer, mat, adhesive pearls (Michaels), spacer bead (Michaels), Bow-Easy, Floral Ovals, Classic Scalloped Ovals, Classic Ovals Large (Spellbinders), Medium Branch Punch (Martha Stewart), flower punch (EKSuccess), distressing tool, Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box), Baja Breeze Seam Binding (SU - RAK from Jill), lace (Jo-Ann's), Paper Lace II Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug)

Please visit the other designers for their beautiful creations!

I'm also submitting this to the latest Word Art Wednesday Challenge # 43.

Hope you can join in the challenge this week if you haven't already!

    Blessings!

Here's my take on the challenge this week!  Flowers with a watering can, looks pretty summery to me!  The image is from an older set called "Happy Birthday", really pretty.  There's actually a matching die for this image that you can use to cut it out, if you want.  The sentiment I used is from a new set "Birthday Blessings", I love the swirly font on this, so pretty!

    For all ingredients used:

Stamps: Birthday Blessings, Happy Birthday (ODBD)
Paper: Natural White (Neenah), Mocha Devine (Bazzills), Habitat Paper Pad (Recollections), green (stash)
Ink: Vintage Sepia (VersaFine), Amaretto (Powder Puffs)

Distressing or Tearing - Elphine House Australia

    Hi there!

It's time for a new challenge at Elphine House Australia!  This time the challenge is to use distressing or paper tearing on your card or project.  The only paper tearing I usually do is by accident, and the only distressing is on how I'm going to get done on time LOL!!!  I recently bought a new distressing tool which made it much easier.  Here's what I came up with!

Here's the front of the card:

    And, here's the inside:

This is another new Elisabeth Bell stamp from EHA called Fairy Faye Flying High.  Isn't she cute!  I colored her with my Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits trying to match these pretty Fairy Belle papers from Prima.  These papers are gorgeous!  I wanted to put the wings on the front, but I didn't like the way it looked so I put them on the inside.  When you turn the wings upside down, it kind of looks like a tulip...I may use that sometime!

Here are all the ingredients I used:

Stamps: Fairy Faye Flying High (EHA), Short & Sweet (SU)
Paper: Fairy Belle (Prima),  Solar White (Neenah), white (Georgia Pacific), Baja Breeze (SU), plum/rose cardstock (DCWV Cardstock Stack)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Aegean Blue (VersaMagic)
Accessories: Labels 8, Wings of Hope Dies (Spellbinders), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box),
Word Window, Modern Label Punches (SU),Flower Burst 3/4" (Fiskers), distressing tool, Baja Breeze Seam Binding (RAK/SU), flower (Prima), Prismacolor Pencils, mineral spirits, adhesive pearls (Want-2-Scrap), Gold & Diamond Stickles, Aleene's Paper Glaze, microbeads (Martha Stewart)

To join in the challenge, you can use any Elisabeth Bell stamp or digi image.  The winner will be chosen randomly and will recieve 2 Elphine House Australia Stamps of their choice!  That's very generous!  Here's a link to their Blog to check it out: Elphine House Australia Blog

I'm also submitting this to the Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #49 to use flowers and ribbons which you can find here

    Thanks for visiting today!

    Blessings!

    Simply Trust - Proverbs 3:5,6

    Hi there!

I made this card for a couple of Challenges using mostly "leftovers" from other projects.  It's amazing what you can do with what you already have, especially if you keep things organized!  All the pieces I used were filed away in my recipe card boxes where I store them.  If you're interested, I posted about this around a year ago.  You can find it here if you want to check it out.  You can also see all my organization posts on my blog by clicking "Organization" under the "Labels" heading on my side bar (way down).

Anyway, I'm submitting this to a couple of challenges at Split Coast Stampers, TLC379 - distressed edges and CAS172 - love.  Distressing is something I never do, I find it distressing lol!  I finally bought a paper distresser from Tonic and it wasn't too bad to do.  For the clean and simple challenge, this about as CAS as I can get although for some it probably isn't very CAS!

I'm also submitting this to Little Birdie Blessings to use Scripture.  Abby has some wonderful thoughts on "Balancing Priorities" talking about Mary and Martha.  For me, this is a daily struggle that I ask God to help me with.

Also, I'm submitting this to Word Art Wednesday Challenge #30 where you can use anything uplifting or Scripture.  I thought I was using the right verse for WAW, but it's actually for Matthew 5:16.  Oh well!

    For complete ingredients:

    Stamps: Scripture Collection 2 (ODBD)
Paper: White (Georgia Pacific), Solar White (Neenah), Pool Party (SU)
    Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Flower & adhesive pearls (Recollections), White Seam Binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon), Elegant Scrollwork (Memory Box), Labels 8 & Elegance M-Bossibilities (Spellbinders), Paper Distressing Tool (Tonic)

That's it for today!  Tomorrow I will be showing you a new stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs' June Release, so stay tuned!!!

    Blessings!
