Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Cherry Blossoms Thank You

Hi there!

Today I have a thank you card I made using a masking technique I found on Pinterest here from Klompen Stampers.

I put easy release tape across the middle on the white panel and stamped the flower image on the top corner and then the bottom corner turning the image around.  The black lines across are done with a ruler and black sharpie and I then stamped the thank you sentiment in the middle.

The images are colored with my Prismacolor Pencils, no Gamsol/mineral spirits again.  I also added mini dots of White Opal Liquid Pearls all around the images and in the flower centers.

Project Details:

Stamps: Cherry Blossoms (Flourishes), Thank You Swirl (Serendipity)

Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)

Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Black (Recollections), blue

Other Products: White flat back pearls, White Opal Liquid Pearls, black sharpie, Prismacolor Pencils: Mediterranean Blue, Indigo Blue, Olive Green

Thanks for stoppping by!  Hope I have inspired you to try something new!

Blessings!

Flourishes FTTC239 - "Build It With Dots"

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This is my last week as a guest designer for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenges!  I've loved being a part of this talented group of ladies and appreciate the warm welcome they've given me!  Thank you so much ladies!

Now, on to the challenge this week which is hosted by Ally!

FTTC239 "Build it with Dots" - Create a card using dots to color your back ground &/or image.   EXAMPLE: here  Notice how the the ground is made of dots?    EXAMPLE: here  See how the leafy tree is coloured?

For my card I used the Cherry Blossoms Set.  This set has so many beautiful images that I had trouble deciding which one I wanted to use!  I finally picked this beauty which I stamped on Solar White Cardstock with Onyx Black Ink and colored with pencils.

For the challenge, I added shadows outside the image using dots!  Here's a close up so you can see it better.

The dot method doesn't work too well with pencils and I only have a handful of Copics, so why not Tombow Markers!  It worked pretty good I think.

After all my coloring was done, I trimed the image down to fit in a teal Timeless Rectangles die cut.  I then layered it with a peach (Tattered Rose) Decorative Labels 8 die cut backed with teal.  I finished this off with peach seam binding wraped around the mat, a bow with a button and floss and placed in all on a white embossed card base.  I really love the color combination of teal and peach, so pretty!

Be sure to visit all the talented designers to see their beautiful creations for the challenge this week!  Hope to see you join in the FTTC239 "Build It With Dots" Challenge this week!

Flourishes FTTC238 - Let It Shine

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It's time for a new Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes!  This week's challenge FTTC238 is:

"Let It Shine" - Incorporate a light source in your card: a candle, lamp, lighthouse, the sun, or even a shiny element.---anything, as long as you "Let It Shine!".

For my card, I used the Christmas Candles Set!

(Click on photo for a closer view)

I love this beautiful Christmas set!  The image and sentiment were stamped on Solar White Cardstock and colored with pencils and mineral spirits.    I also stamped, colored, and fussy cut an extra little piece of berries and holly to put next to the sentiment.  Here's a little close up of the image:

This was then die cut with Decorative Labels 8 and sponged with Wheat Chalk Ink while still in the die.  I popped this on a double mat of burgundy and green cardstock with Moss Twill wraped around it.  This was then popped on a white cardbased made the Labels 23 Grand Dies.  I finished this off with some pearls, bow made with Moss Micro Gingham Ribbon and a button with floss threaded in it.

Be sure to visit the Flourishes' Designers to see their gorgeous creations for the challenge this week!

I stamped the tree image on Solar White Cardstock with Onyx Black Ink and colored it with pencils and mineral spirits.  I then fussy cut the image so I could pop it on the card base.  For my card base, I used the Lacy Squares Die and green cardstock placing the fold slightly under the top of the die.  I matted it with red cardstock and then white cardstock that is embossed with a snowflake embossing folder.

The sentiment I used is also from the set.  I stamped it in the same manner as the image and cut it with a circle punch.  I finished my card off with some narrow gingham ribbon, a bell and a button.

Flourishes Guest Designer

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I'm so excited to be chosen as a Guest Designer this month for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenges!  I love to color Flourishes' beautiful images with pencils and mineral spirits, so I jumped as the chance to join them this month!  Thank you Allison for having me!

The Timeless Tuesday Challenge #236 for this week is "Double Wrap" - use at least 2 kinds of ribbon.  For the challenge, I used blue seam binding and golden brown silk ribbon for the bows.

The image I used is from the Dahlias Set.  I love this flower image with the little vases, so much fun to color!  I decided on this pretty blue and golden brown color combo for coloring the image and then added all the remaining papers and ribbons to match.  Prismacolor Pencils used are Muted Turquoise, Yellow Ochre, Goldenrod, Chocolate, Black and Kelp Green.

Here's a little close up of the image.

For my card, I die cut the Dahlias image with Labels 8, cut a blue mat in the next die size up and embossed it.  The image is popped on the blue mat then the blue mat is framed with tan cardstock die cut with Decorative Labels 8.  This is then popped on a blue card base with a white mat.

The "Hello" sentiment, also from the Dahlias Set, is stamped on white cardstock with black ink, punched with an oval punch and inked.  This was matted with a blue scalloped oval using a punch and pierced around the edges.  The bows and adhesive pearl were added to finish this!

Be sure to visit all the talented designers to see their beautiful creations for the challenge this week!

I'm also submitting this to the following challenges:

Word Art Wednesday Challenge #95 - Anything Goes
TLC445 - Revisit TLC133 - Gamsol Magic with a twist!

This is my first attempt to make a tag, it's about time I tried one of these!  I colored this flower image with pencils and mineral spirits and cut it with the Timeless Rectangles Die.  I added a little bit of a brown mat behind it.  The tag is made from the same brown paper and a parchment type paper I had in my stash.  I punched the bottom corners and added the sentiment between them.  I added lots of twine, jute, and ribbon for the "tassell" and a couple of bows and a button.

I'm also submitting this to the latest Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #RRR69 - Buttons & Bowns Theme.

Sepia Roses - Flourishes

Hi there!

I have a card made with the Flourishes' "Roses are Red" Set that I won recently from them.

I LOVE this image and couldn't wait to color it!  The Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week is for a vintage creation, I hope this is vintage enough!  I decided to do it as a monotone after seeing the Really Reasonable Ribbon challenge this week for it.  I did it in a vintage sepia color combination, which I love, using my pencils and mineral spirits.  The photo isn't the best as it's much prettier in real life.  The beautiful bow is made with Crumb Cake Seam Binding that my sweet cyber friend Jill (JD) gave me!  The photo doesn't show it, but it actually goes perfectly with the image and papers and has a gorgeous color variation on it from the light.

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Roses are Red (Flourishes)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Quicksand, Bitter Chocolate (Bazzills)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Dark Chocolate (Palette)
Accessories: Sponge, Crumb Cake Seam Binding (RAK from Jill), adhesive pearls, Labels 23 Grand, Floral Ovals (Spellbinders), Bow-Easy, mineral spirits, Prismacolor Pencils: Peachy Beige, Light Umber, Dark Brown, Espresso, Black

Thank you for stopping by!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!  Today I have a card I made for the latest Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #204.  This week we need to use a fishtail, pearls, and a circle.  It took me a while to figure out what a fishtail was, lol!  Here's what I came up with...

The rose image is from the Roses are Red Set and the sentiment is from the Inside & Out You Set.  These are 2 of the sets I won from them a couple of weeks ago for the new release.  I love this rose image and I can't wait to color the larger rose image from the set!  I colored this image with my pencils and mineral spirits and accented it a little with a marker.

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Flourishes FTTC204 - Fishtail, pearls, & circle
Word Art Wednesday #64 - Anything Goes

Flowers With Love - Flourishes

Hi there!

I have a bunch of flowery stamps from Flourishes that I bought a year or 2 ago and have decided to break them out and do some creating with them!  Last week I did the Rose Corner Bookmark and entered it in the Flourishes' challenge.  This week I have a card I made using the With Graditude Stamp Set and the Decorative Labels 8 Die as a card base.

I made this for the Flourishes' Love Letters Challenge (FLLCJAN13) - love theme.  I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits.  The little word "love" at the bottom is from the Noteworthy SU Set.  Here's a picture of the inside:

This "love" sentiment is from Hampton Art - Studio G.  I stamped it with Victoria Velvet Ink, but it was too light so I colored a shadow on it with Black Raspberry Pencil.

Card recipe:

Stamps: With Graditude (Flourishes), Noteworthy (SU), "Love" (Hampton Art)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Burgandy (Recollections)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Victorian Velvet Distress Ink Ranger)
Accessories: Olive Wrinkled Ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon), adhesive pearls (Recollections), Labels 8, Decorative Labels 8 (Spellbinders), mineral spirits, White Opal Liquid Pearls, Vesuvius Glitter (Art Glitter), Prismacolor Pencils: Pink Rose, Black Raspberry, Kelp Green, Black

I'm also submitting this to the following challenges:

Almost Easter - Flourishes & Cheery Lynn Challenges

Hi there!

This is a very quick card I put together for Easter using one of my most favorite dies, Fanciful Flourish by Cheery Lynn Designs.  The colors on this look blue in the photo, but are actually more lavender.  I'd like to sponge some Almost Amethyst around the sentiment with the die in place, but a little late now!

I'm submitting this to the Flourishes' FTTC161 Sketch Challenge and the Cheery Lynn Designs' Challenge #20 for Easter.

For ingredients used:

Stamps: Well Scripted (Stampin' Up)
Paper: Natural White (Neenah), Almost Amethyst, Pear Pizzazz (SU)

Mustang Faux Letterpress - FTTC158 Country Living

Happy Friday!

I decided to try out the "Faux Letterpress" Technique added to the Resource Section on Split Coast Stampers Wednesday.  The basic technique is to ink the embossing folder before embossing the paper.  I just started playing with it, and I love how it came out.

I used kraft paper and inked the EF with Night of Navy Stampin Up ink on the "background" side.  I didn't like the way it came out, so I took Saddle Brown (Staz-On) and ran it across the raised image of the paper and left some spots uninked.  Then I inked the edges of the mat with Amaretto (reddish-brown) and Midnight Confession (black) Inks (Powder Puffs).  It came out looking like a rustic tile.  I figured it would make a good base for a masculine card, so that's what it became!

I stamped the Mustang image (Serendipity) on to a tan color paper and and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  I sponged this with Desert Sand and Rich Cocoa (Momento) inks. For the sentiment, I created a little sign using the same paper and black ink, and sponged it with Amaretto and Midnight Confession Inks on the edges and attached it with black twine.

I'm entering this in the latest Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge FTTC158, for country living - farm theme.  It looks pretty country to me!

All ingredients used:

Stamps: Mustang (Serendipity), Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU)
Paper: Black (SU), kraft (DCWV Stack), "Tan" (?)
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine), Night of Navy (SU), Saddle Brown (Staz-On), Rich Cocoa, Desert Sand (Momento), Amaretto, Midnight Confession (Powder Puffs).
Accessories: Labels 18 (Spellbinders), Paper Lace II EF (Cuttlebug), twine, black help cord (Darice), stud metal art (K&Co), trim (Jo-Ann's), mini brads (Recollections), modern label and word window punches (SU), Prismacolor Pencils, mineral spirits.

That's it for now!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings!

Corner Bookmark - Flourishes FTTC157

Happy Sunday!

I decided to join in on the latest challenge at Flourishes - FTTC157 - make a corner bookmark.  I've seen this, but hadn't tried it out yet.  I'm glad I did, very easy to make and would make a nice gift!

I would LIKE to make a bunch of these for the ladies at my Bible study, but there are a LOT of ladies!  We'll have to see how that goes!

The blue paper is actually darker and more of a navy than the royal blue as it looks here.  It looks a lot nicer in real life!

I couldn't decide which picture to show you, so I'm showing you all 3!

I used the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers in the Resource section done by Beate Johns, you can find it here

I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils and tried something a little different.  I did a base of white pencil on the flower before adding the blue.  I'm not sure I like it, it changes the color too much from what I wanted.    I checked out pictures of real pansies online and found gorgeous one that was mostly white with dark blue highlights on the base and tip of the petals.  This definitely isn't how it came out, but I'll try it again in the future.  I also noticed in the real pictures that the "fifth" petal underneath was usually a solid darker color, which I tried to do here.  I'm just a little detailed, LOL!

The ingredients used:

Stamps: A Year in Flowers 1 (Flourishes)
Paper: White (PTI), Typhon (Bazzills), Watercolor Bouquet (K&Co).
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine)
Accessories: Fleur de Lis Squares, Classic Petal Edgeabilities (Spellbinders), ribbon (Micheals), adhesive pearls (Michaels & Want2Scrap), Prismacolor pencils, mineral spirits.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Blessings!

Kathy

Timeless Roses - FTTC156 & Cheery-Lynn Designs Challenge #15

Good morning again!

I have another card to show you this morning that I worked on this week.  This rose stamp is from Flourishes' "A Year in Flowers 2" Set.  I bought the entire set of stamps to make calendars for next year.  I love to color flowers, and these make beautiful calendars or can be used alone like this on a card or project.

I'm entering this in the Flourish's Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week to incorporate red on your card.  You can find the challenge here on their website.

I'm also entering this in the Cheery-Lynn Designs Challenge this week called "Pretty in Pink" to use pink on you card.  You are required to use at least one of their dies, I used the Fanciful Flourish...only one I have, so far!  You can find their challenge here on their website.

Among the ingredients I used on this card, the pin with the pearls, rhinestones, and charm are from a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) I received from a sweet friend, Sabrina Jackson!!!  Sabrina is on the Our Daily Bread Designs' Design Team.  She was going to send me a couple of pins and beads to show me how she does hers...they are gorgeous...I ended up with a whole box of goodies!!!  I'm going to show you all the things she sent me in a separate post, as soon as I can get a pretty picture of them all together!

Here is the inside of the card:

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but I used the Scripture Collection 2 Set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I embossed it with Pearl Embossing Powder and VersaMark.  This is actually a leftover from the card I made last month for the Love Recipe Challenge - ODBDSLC94.  I pretty much save all my leftovers from projects (they are organized in my recipe card boxes - you can see that in an older post on organization here), and use them when I can.  I sponged around the image with old olive ink.  It's actually very pretty with the designer paper.  The lace is also from my wonderful RAK from Sabrina.  So very pretty!!!

For all the ingredients I used:

Stamps: A Year in Flowers 2 (Flourishes), Scripture Collection 2 (ODBD)
Paper: Rose Red (SU), Solar White (Neenah), Watercolor Bouquet (K&Co), Preppy Princess Stack (DCWV).
Ink: Black Onyx (Versafine), Old Olive (SU), Versamark
Accessories: Prismacolor pencils - Pale Sage, Old Olive, Crimson Red, Pink Rose, Kelp Green, Le Plume marker English Red, mineral spirits, Fanciful Flourish die (Cheery Lynn Designs), Fleur de Lis Squares, Labels 18 (Spellbinders), pearl cotton thread, sewing needle, adhesive pearls & flowers(Recollections), lace (Really Reasonable Ribbon & Sabrina's RAK), netting (Jo-Ann's), charm/pin/beads (Sabrina's RAK), sponge.

That's it for now!  Thank you for looking and hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Blessings!
