Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

  • Winners will be announced May 3 on the ODBD Blog
  • There will be THREE prizes: a $20.00, $30.00, and $40.00 Gift Certificate toward stamps in the ODBD Store. *Must be redeemed within the month of May!
  • To qualify to win all you have to do is hop to each designer's blog, leave a comment, and return to the ODBD Blog to tell us you completed the hop, and if you had any difficulties along the way! Easy Peasy!!!

For my card, I used an awesome new set called "The Waves on the Sea".

Click on the photo for a better view!

To create my card, I stamped the ship image with Vintage Sepia on "Wish" designer paper, first stamping it "off" on scrap paper.  Then I stamped the verse with Onyx Black Ink slightly over the image.  I love the effect this gives and it's such a quick and simple technique!  I added a plaid mat behind it and matted both with black cardstock.  The card base is black with a mat using Hermit Cardstock by Coredinations.  I embossed the mat with an embossing folder and ran the Amaretto and Mocha Mama Ink Pad over it a little.  I finished it off with a couple of brads, a button and some twine.

Here is a picture of the set I used which I think is perfect for masculine cards and would be great for Father's Day!

Card recipe:

Paper: Little Black Dress (Basic Grey), Wish - Serendipity (The Paper Loft)
Ink: Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia (VersaFine), Amaretto, Mocha Mama (Powder Puffs)
Accessories: Paper Lace II Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), button, twine, brads, Bow-Easy

Now, from here you will hop to Cathy's fabulous blog where you're in for a real treat!  Have fun hopping!

I'm submitting this to the Basic Grey Challenge #92 - Masculine. (Little Black Dress)

Blessings!

I chose to do piercing (on the black mat) because I'm not too fond of sewing!  The one time I tried machine sewing on paper it came out terrible!  I used the beautiful Romantic Floral Designs Stamps for the flourished frames on the layers, matching the Labels 26 Dies.  The sentiment is from the Flourished Verses Set which I think goes nicely with the frames.  The thing I love about these frames is they're clear stamps so it's easy to stamp them around sentiments.  Here are the sets I used.

Card recipe:

Paper: Black, peach, The Mariposa Stack (DCWV)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Piercer, Labels 26 (Spellbinders), adhesive pearls (Want-2-Scrap and Recollections), Black Seam Binding (Really Reasonable Ribbon), flower punch (EKSucess), jewelery findings/stick pin, Bow-Easy

I used an older set, "On Eagle's Wings", with this beautiful eagle and verse.  The eagle image is colored with pencils and mineral on a piece of tan designer paper so the white pencil would show up.  I fussy cut the image, shaped it a little and added it over the Scripture with pop dots.  Here's a close up:

Here is a picture of the stamp set:

I wanted this to be a masculine card so I didn't add much for embellishments.  I did add a twine bow and some metal stickers, but I think it still masculine enough!

Card recipe:

Stamps: On Eagle's Wings (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Heritage Scrapper's Solution (HOTP), black, red (DCWV Stack)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Amaretto (Powder Puffs)
Accessories: Paper Lace II Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), black twine, metal stickers, Bow-Easy, Prismacolor Pencils: White, Black, Yellow Ochre, Goldenrod, Light Umber, Chocolate, Espresso

(Click on photo for a closer look)

I made a slider style card using scripture from the On Eagles' Wings Set.

For the sentiment inside, I used the Flourished Verses Set.

Here's another photo of the card laying flat.

I had a little trouble with inspiration this week, so I made a trip to my local scrapbook store and found these pretty Authentique Papers called Cherish.  I love these papers with the roses and pinks!  I get a lot of my inspiration from designer papers and even though I have TONS already, LOL, I had to get more!  I did all the stamping directly on the solid designer papers.  Also, if you look closely, there is a faint eagle image with the verse on front.

Card recipe:

Stamps: On Eagles' Wings, Flourished Verses (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Natural White (Neenah), Cherish (Authentique), burgandy (DCWV), Always Artichoke
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine), Victoria Velvet Distress Ink
Accessories: Alway Artichoke Seam Binding (RAK from Jill :-), Elegant Scrollwork Die (Memory Box), Timeless Rectangles Dies (Spellbinders), button, Bow-Easy, jute, charm, brad

Here is my card for the challenge this week...

My card base is made with the Labels One Grand Die placing the top edge of the card base slightly above the die edge.  This beautiful frame image is from the new Romantic Floral Designs Stamp Set.  I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiments Collection first on designer paper, then stamped the frame image over it.  The frame image is a clear stamp so it was PERFECT for me lining it up over the sentiment!  I just love that!  The frame image is cut with the Labels 26 Die that matches the frame.  I cut a piece of black cardstock with Decorative Labels One to mat behind the image.  I then added some pearls, a flower and branches.  Very, very simple card to make!

Here are the stamp sets on used on this:

Here is the matching Labels 26 Dies for the frame image:

Card recipe:

Stamps: Romantic Floral Designs, Sentiments Collection (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: The Mariposa Stack (Recollections), green cardstock (DCWV), black

CottageCutz - Garden Thank You

Happy Wedesday!

Today I have a card to show you using 2 CottageCutz' Dies, Garden Bird Branch and Butterfly Mini.

(Click on photo for a better view)

I cut the butterfly and branch using green cardstock and shaped the branch a little.  I cut them again with white cardstock and colored the pieces with chalk inks.  The birds and flowers were added with pop dots onto the first layer.  I embossed the top portion of the white mat with an embossing folder and stamped a sentiment on the bottom.  I wrapped ribbon around the mat and glued all the pieces down.  I then added a bow and some liquid pearls.

I love this little butterfly die, I didn't much to it and it came out so cute!  The branch will be good to used for the birds alone and the branch pieces to add to other creations and dies.

These are the dies that I used on this:

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Flourished Verses (Our Daily Bread Designs)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), green (DCWV Stack), Wisteria (Coredinations)
